Bula Vinaka!
Elder Rasband came to visit, and we had MLC and two exchanges. That Kiribati sister we had with us left us on Thursday. We were supposed to drop her off after the devotional with Elder Rasband, and we were also supposed to start an exchange. WE didn't think to check the time after the devotional, thinking it was 2 or 3. The sister was supposed to be at the airport at 6:00. we were on our way in very heavy traffic to get to the other sisters' flat to do the exchange and glanced at the clock, realizing it was 5:24 and we didn't have the Kiribati sister's luggage or passport or anything. We quickly tried to turn around in the terrible traffic and headed toward our flat, with the other two sisters we were trying to exchange with still in the car. When we finally reached our flat we raced inside the flat and took a backroad to get to the airport, making it in plenty of time, thank goodness! After that we started our exchange late in the night. As I was pulling into the driveway of our flat just before 9, the other sister I was on exchanges with jumped out of the car to open the gate for us. Out of the corner of my eye, i saw a man running up to us. I yelled at her to get back in the car which she readily did. I locked the door and he looked at us, then opened the gate, and waited for us to drive in. I didn't want to drive in because I knew we were stuck inside if he wanted to do something. Finally, he came over to the passenger side and I cracked the window. I started speaking Fijian to him which surprised him, and asked him what he was doing there. He said he lived somewhere far away. then asked us for 2 dollars. I told him that we had no money. Haha I don't think he knew what to do, and I just looked at him and so he started walking away. When he was all the way down the street we pulled in and locked the gate. haha, you never know what you will see! something I learned from this was that the Spirit will always help us when we are trying to do the right thing. I was thinking so clearly and I wasn't even scared until well after he left.
also, there is a huge Measles outbreak here. a couple of people have died, and not everybody can get injections because they are running out. It started in Samoa, but has moved to here. Somebody got it in Temple housing and they have stuck everyone in there.
Loloma bibi,
