Elections

Bula Vinaka!
Fiji is wonderful! And absolutely beautiful. The sunsets are gorgeous, and the people here are so kind and loving and happy. I have seen boats and lots and lots of fish. In fact, my area here covers some outer islands so we have to take a tiny little motor boat out to them. Every day I feel so much love for Fiji and the people here. I can't really describe what it is like here. I have never felt such a love for people and for a place as I have here, especially a foreign place. They are so humble and so happy. Even if they don't want to hear our message they are way nice about it and let us share with them anyway. I wish you could see the sunrises and sunsets, meet all the people I meet everyday, and feel of the love for them. A camera can't capture all of that. I like being in the bush.
Everyone here wants to go to America, specifically Utah. It is so funny how the roles change. In Utah, everyone wants to go to Fiji. In Fiji, everyone wants to go to Utah.
Elections are finally over by the way. It took them several days because the polling stations flooded so they had to extend it.
So we have a lot of frogs here. When it is very rainy, the frogs all come out and sometimes you have to be careful not to step on them.
The other night I was saying my prayers and getting ready to sleep. Sister Tune was all ready asleep and I heard shuffling around in the kitchen. I finally peeked out and there was a cat in our kitchen! I think it got in through the roof.
I am slowly learning more Fijian. I get frustrated sometimes because I feel like I am not learning it fast enough.
This has been a great week. Yesterday we went for a second visit with a Hindi woman and her daughter. We visited them a while ago but haven't made it back. They invited us in and three of her other daughters were there. The mom told us that the younger girl loved to read the Book of Mormon and had told her that she wanted to be Christian. I have gained a strong testimony of the Light of Christ. I know that if people want to, they will feel the goodness of the Gospel. It will resonate within them and they will know that it is true.
This next week we get to go over to the other island to work with people in the unit there. We will stay overnight so that we can proselyte two days there. We have to ask a memberfor his boat and buy the gas, then call the lady we are staying with so her sons can leave the house for us to stay overnight.
Yesterday was the primary program in our ward. It was so cute and funny! The funniest part is that here the kids don't cry if you laugh at them- they think it is funny. After the little kids would go up to say their part and they were really shy, all of the members would say, "vinaka!" One little boy is the funniest. He was belting out the songs, usually with the wrong words, louder than all the other kids combined. It was so funny.
