Arrived Safely- In Fiji at Last!

I still can't believe that I am here in Fiji. it is so gorgeous, you would absolutely love it. My trainer is Sister Tune and she is awesome! I am learning so many good things from her. I am in the Toga area. It is the only "Bush" area for sisters and the only Fijian speaking Area for sisters. The members are so nice! The kids are so cute too. We went to church yesterday and we were sitting on the bench by ourselves because we were a little early. As soon as we sat down all these little kids came over and snuggled right next to me. It was the cutest thing ever. They really like to sit right next to us and sometimes fall asleep leaning against us. They like my hands and tell me my skin is pink. Haha everyone really likes my eyes too.
I have not seen one white person, especially a white girl anywhere around here. There is a family in our ward, the Vavaloa's and they really like to feed us. On Saturday we were going to the Saturday session of Stake conference. We have to take buses to get places. The mom wants me to try all of the Fijian foods. After we got off the bus to get a taxi she told us to wait and she was going to buy us some Fijian breads. After she got out of the store, she said we were going to "eat, eat, eat" on the taxi ride to the stake center. They are so nice to me. There is a family in our ward who we visit because they are inactive. It is a mom with little kids but she also takes care of her grand baby. All of the kids had chicken pox, and I think she thought I would be worried that I was going to get it. I told her I had chicken pox when I was little, and so I think that helped her. I know Heavenly Father wants me here for a reason. We didn't get to fast yesterday because we had Stake conference at the stake center. The ward rented a bus so we didn't have to pay to go this time. It was a really good meeting. The temple president talked about Kava and how as of January they aren't supposed to be drinking it anymore. The Stake president told the members to  bring their Kava bowl and give it to their bishops. The roads here are all dirt, so when it rains, like every day, it gets a little muddy. You should see my shoes! I have resorted to crocs for now, which are ugly, but they are the most comfortable, and easy to take on and off at members homes. Our house is like inside a compound. We have a padlock on the gate and then have to unlock our house. It is safe, but the gate is so short that people could honestly jump it haha. In fact our zone leaders jumped it yesterday. We didn't know, we thought they had just walked through the gate, but a lady in our ward had been watching from her home and informed us of that. People are so friendly here. It is kind of unnerving, though, because everyone knows where we live and everyone asks you where you came from and where you are going. It is rude to pass someone on the street without saying something to them.
Moce, Sister Wayment
